Long-time East Cooper Meals on Wheels volunteer, Merv Horner, was featured on News 2’s “Everyday Hero.” This clip highlights the importance of volunteers, community generosity, and feeding our neighbors. East Cooper Meals on Wheels delivers daily nutrition to residents within our service area who are homebound or unable to provide their own meals.
Since 1985 East Cooper Meals on Meals delivered food to people who are homebound or are unable to provide their own meals. From 5,000 meals in that first year to nearly 160,000 this past year. The need is great and none of this would be possible if not for volunteers. Volunteers like Merv Horner, who is tonight’s Everyday Hero.
It would take Merv Horner a long time to count all the meals he has delivered. As volunteers are busy preparing the daily meals, this 74-year-old is getting set to deliver them.
