Our Volunteer of the Quarter is our very funny gal pal, Jeanne Shoup. Jeanne has been one of our dedicated substitute drivers since she joined in June of 2017. Jeanne lives in West Ashley and loves to deliver for us, weekly. There are many times Jeanne has delivered two routes in one morning. Jeanne always says: “CALL ME WITH THE EXTRA ROUTE.” We love that Jeanne will return from the first route and immediately collect her coolers for the next route on the very same day. In addition, Jeanne also cares deeply for the recipients We will hear stories of her visits with the recipients that have grown close to her heart. Additionally, you will find Jeanne volunteering her time at our events such as our Oyster Roast!
Jeanne says what she enjoys most about East Cooper Meals on Wheels is that, “she gets the opportunity to meet an amazing group of folks! Whether it’s the recipients or the staff, everyone has been so kind. We’ve become family!”
Because Jeanne can choose anywhere to volunteer, I asked her why she chose East Cooper Meals on Wheels. She said, “I chose East Cooper Meals on Wheels because it is the community helping their community. I really like that! Several fundraisers throughout the year make it possible. I’m very happy to be a part of this great cause. Plus, the staff makes me laugh all the time!”
