A Legacy of Kindness in 2025
We are so incredibly grateful to share that we finished 2025 in a very strong position thanks to three wonderful supporters: Barbara Sue Johnson, Mary Gadsden, and Henrietta Wildeboer, who remembered Meals on Wheels in their wills. These bequests allowed us to cover 2025’s rising costs while creating a surplus to fuel our future growth. We are deeply moved that these individuals made our mission part of their lasting legacy.
While we celebrate the stability these gifts provide, we are also looking toward a rapidly approaching and changing horizon. Across the country, we are witnessing a historic demographic shift: 10,000 people are turning 75 years old every single day. In our own service area, this “Silver Tsunami” isn’t just a statistic, it represents a massive increase in the number of neighbors who will soon rely on us for meals and a friendly knock at the door. As our aging population grows, so does the demand for our services. To meet this challenge, we must ensure our funding evolves alongside this need. While generous legacy gifts secured our stability in 2025, we are now preparing to scale our resources to meet the rising demands as the ‘Silver Tsunami’ increases the need for our services.
