George Roberts
President & CEO
George uses his 20 years of corporate and 20 years of nonprofit experience to help build the best organization possible to ensure no homebound residents in our area go hungry. He comes to work each day with a big smile knowing our amazing staff and volunteers share this passion. We provide the food, but our volunteers provide the love to our homebound neighbors each day!
Cailee Sprecher
Recipient services manager
Cailee moved here from Iowa in 2021 because she was tired of winter. She previously worked at Wellmore of Daniel Island and especially enjoys working with the older population. If she’s not at the beach, you’ll find Cailee sitting somewhere reading a good book. She also looks forward to Fall every year so she can light her favorite candles. She’s excited to continue helping people through her work at Meals on Wheels.
Rhashad Smith
Operations Assistant
Rhashad is a native of the Lowcountry, raised in North Charleston and Moncks Corner. Upon finishing high school at Berkeley, he moved to Franklin, NC to pursue a culinary degree. Throughout the years he’s worked for a variety of businesses – Popeye’s, AT&T, Zips Car Wash, The Capella Corporation, as well as others.
Rhashad says, “I’m motivated by the volunteers. It’s good to be a part of a community that helps the community. They’re all passionate about the role they play, and I don’t want to let them down.”
Luna Velasquez
Business & Operations Manager
Luna is originally from Indiana and lived in Pennsylvania before moving to the Lowcountry. She was a chef for 12 years and is now able to utilize her hospitality industry knowledge, as well as her organization & management skills, to support and improve the lives of many in our community. An avid traveler who has made it to 34 states and 13+ countries, Luna is also an animal lover and advocate. Outside of work, Luna loves camping and spending time outdoors.
Ashley Shealor
Volunteer Manager
Ashley is a Mount Pleasant native who brings a love for people and community to her role as Volunteer Manager. After graduating from the University of South Carolina, she spent seven years as a flight attendant before returning home to Charleston, where she worked as a Health Administrator at MUSC before joining the Meals on Wheels team.
Ashley now coordinates more than 350 dedicated volunteers and truly enjoys building meaningful connections throughout the organization. When she’s not at Meals on Wheels, she loves traveling, getting lost in a good book, and spending time with friends and family.
Erin Cannon
Data and Programs
Erin works with us part-time and focuses her efforts on data and programs which include gift processing and acknowledgment, database cleanup and optimization, and analyzing our processes looking for improvements. On the programs side, she’s a big help with our Gala and Auction while also jumping in to help with recipient programs and more! Faster, Better, Cheaper is her mantra!
