Our Mission
To improve the health and quality of life for the homebound residents we serve so that no one is left hungry or isolated.

Our Vision
A community in which all homebound neighbors live nourished and connected lives with independence and dignity.
History
Our Story: Neighbors Feeding Neighbors Since 1985
It started at St. Andrews Church with a simple goal: ensure no homebound neighbor in Mount Pleasant ever had to worry about their next meal. Since August 1985, Meals on Wheels-Feeding Friends has been delivering more than just nutrition, we deliver a friendly face and a watchful eye.
What began in one neighborhood now spans five communities: Mount Pleasant, Sullivan’s Island, Isle of Palms, Daniel Island, and Clements Ferry.
A Village Powered by You
We are unique because we are 100% community-funded. We don’t rely on federal government support; instead, we rely on a dedicated “village” of hundreds of volunteers. Today, that team delivers 450–500 meals every single day to over 1,000 neighbors each year. While we are a proud affiliate of Meals on Wheels America, we are a standalone 501 (C) 3 nonprofit, locally led, locally funded, and locally focused.
Growing to Meet the Needs
Our mission, to improve the health and quality of life for the homebound residents we serve so that no one is left hungry or isolated, has stood the test of time. Even through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, we never missed a beat, innovating with contactless deliveries to keep our neighbors safe and supported. Our offices are at Christ Episcopal Church, which provides our program with its home, entirely rent-free. This incredible gift translates to an annual savings of approximately $107,000. This savings means more meals, more nutritional support, and more resources dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for our homebound neighbors.
The Road Ahead
We aren’t just growing; we’re getting better.
- Chef-Inspired Quality: We are thrilled to partner with Dish & Design to bring fresh, high-quality flavors to every midday meal.
- Healthcare Partnerships: We are working hand-in-hand with local doctors and social workers to ensure that anyone recovering from surgery or illness knows we are here, whether they need us for a few days or a few months.
As our community grows, our commitment grows with it. We are dedicated to building the resources necessary to ensure that every neighbor who needs a hand (and a great meal) receives one.
