💙 November is Diabetes Awareness Month! 💙
Did you know insulin is considered the 6th most expensive liquid in the world? For millions of Americans living with diabetes, the cost of simply staying alive can be an enormous burden.
While we can't take away the cost of insulin, we can help take one worry off our neighbors' plates (literally!). At Meals on Wheels • Feeding Friends, we provide nutritious meals at no cost to our homebound neighbors, helping ensure that access to a healthy meal isn't another thing they have to worry about.
Good nutrition matters, and everyone deserves access to it.
With schools closed for Election Day, we were lucky to have a few extra helping hands at Meals on Wheels • Feeding Friends this morning!
A big thank-you to all of our student volunteers who spent part of their day helping us pack and deliver meals to our neighbors. We appreciate you! 💚
🎃 Happy Halloween from Meals on Wheels • Feeding Friends!! 👻
We had a blast dressing up, packing & delivering meals, and spreading a little spooky spirit yesterday! And let’s just say, we didn’t need our morning coffee to wake us up… Rhashad popping out of the bushes as the swampness monster in the dark was more than enough! 😂
Which costume is your favorite?
Wishing everyone a safe and spooktacular Halloween! 🧡
Happy National Cat Day to all the amazing cat parents out there! 🐱❤️
Did you know Meals on Wheels • Feeding Friends provides meals not only for our homebound neighbors but for their furry friends, too?
Just this past week, two of our incredible volunteers, Caroline and Alice, went above and beyond to help one of our longtime recipients get her outdoor cats spayed and find loving homes for the multiplying kittens, with the help of Charleston Animal Society! 🐾
Their kindness helped ease an added stress for our neighbor while making a difference for her furry friends. Because our mission is about so much more than delivering meals; it's about caring for our neighbors in every way we can!
📸 Check out the photos of our volunteers in action as they helped capture some of the CUTEST cats!
🎃👻 Halloween week is in full swing at Meals on Wheels • Feeding Friends, and our volunteer Julie is READY! 🧡🖤
From her orange-and-black Jeep to her festive outfit and Halloween goodie bags for her homebound neighbors, Julie is bringing all the Halloween spirit to her deliveries today! 🍬🚙
Thanks for spreading a little Halloween magic, Julie! We’re so lucky to have volunteers like you! 🧡🎃
This meal looked almost too good to be true! 😍 Our volunteers couldn’t stop talking about it while we were packing meals this morning, and honestly, we can’t blame them!
We’re so grateful to have meals like these going out to our homebound neighbors and to the amazing volunteers who help make it all happen!
We had the BEST time yesterday welcoming Brittany’s daughter, Lilly, as she joined her mom for a day of meal deliveries! 🥰
Brittany is one of our wonderful volunteers, and Lilly got to ride along with her as she delivered meals to our neighbors! She was the sweetest helper and loved getting to meet and chat with some new friends, who absolutely loved seeing her big smile.
We love seeing the next generation spreading kindness in our community, and we can’t wait for her to join her mom on another delivery day soon!
We always love having our furry volunteers join us for meal deliveries! They get plenty of treats and love along the way, and their visits brighten the days of so many of our homebound neighbors... and ours, too! 🐾
Did you know we help our homebound neighbors start their mornings off right, too?
At Meals on Wheels • Feeding Friends, our care goes beyond just a meal! Through our Breakfast Program, we deliver breakfast bags twice a month filled with shelf-stable favorites like oatmeal, granola bars, and protein bars.
These simple additions help provide energy for the day, support neighbors who need food with their morning medications, and offer peace of mind knowing breakfast is ready when they wake up.
Because everyone deserves a nourishing start to the day!☀️
Love when the grandkids are in town and can join in on the fun! 💙
Our volunteer Neal brought his two grandkids visiting from Greenville along to help deliver meals today! We love seeing families come together to care for our homebound neighbors and make a difference in our community.
Thanks for spending part of your trip with us, guys! We loved having you!
It's that time of year again and holidays are coming up fast! We are already collecting donations for our homebound neighbors holiday gifts!
For many of our homebound neighbors, the holidays can be an especially lonely time. Being homebound can mean spending a lot of time alone and feeling isolated from family, friends, and the community. These holiday gifts are a small but meaningful way for us to remind them that they are cared for, thought of, and they are not forgotten. Here are a few ways you can help:
